Dynamical mode recognition of triple flickering buoyant diffusion flames in Wasserstein space

Triple flickering buoyant diffusion flames in an isosceles triangle arrangement, as a nonlinear dynamical system of coupled oscillators, were experimentally studied. The focus the study is two-fold: we established well-controlled gas-fuel flame experiment, which well remedies deficiencies prevalent candle-flame experiments, and developed Wasserstein-space-based methodology for mode recognition, validated present triple-flame systems but can be readily generalized to consisting arbitrary finite number flames. By use experiment methodology, seven distinct stable modes recognized, such in-phase mode, death partially rotation decoupled mode. These unify literature results triple straight-line equal-lateral arrangements. Compared with recognitions physical space phase space, avoids personal subjectivity more applicable high-dimensional systems, it based on concept distance between distribution functions points. Consequently, identification or discrimination two quantified small large Wasserstein distance, respectively.
